Watsonville Volunteer Airlift

A WVI Volunteer Airlift planning meeting was held on 24 October at 9am.
In attendance were Jack Roberts, Major David Coleman (Civil Air Patrol), Sarah Chauvet, and Tom Hail.
The draft plan was discussed and some comments made that will be incorporated. The basic outline of the plan was understood and no objections to its structure was expressed. The plan needs to be broadcast more.
Yearly review of the plan by the airport community was recommended along with a yearly exercise, not necessarily at the same time.

Actions assigned:
Jack Roberts will contact county disaster services and determine point of contact for the WVI effort.
Maj Coleman will discuss WVI plan with new CAP plan being developed.
Tom Hail will ask Rayvon Williams if he can help with Flight Dispatcher details, ATC contacts specifically.
Tom Hail will ask Dan Kelsey if he can suggest a ramp/aircraft flow plan.
Tom Hail will ask Chris Laws to help renew contact with Ham radio community.
Tom Hail will ask Chris Laws or John Davi to initiate a bottled water storage and rotation in the hangar.

It was a nice first meeting and it is hoped that more participation by the WVI community will be drummed up in the future. An email list needs to be set up which I will do so that timely notification and reminders of meetings can be made. Sign up lists will be distributed at future EAA, WPA, 99s meetings.

First Meeting

The first planning meeting to work on the WVI Volunteer Airlift plan will be held on 24th October at the Watsonville Aviation Education Center, 60 Aviation Way Watsonville, CA 95076 from 9am to Noon. We will go over the draft plan and assign tasks to start filling out the plan and get coordination started.

I am working (finally) on the emergency airlift plan I took on at the beginning of the year. Below is a link to an outline of the plan I drew up based on the CPA airlift plan they published.

I am scheduling a planning meeting for October 24th in the EAA hangar at 9am to go over this and get feedback and get volunteers for some of the tasks that need to be done.

You shouldn't need any special software to look this over, it is all web based and should be easy to review. It isn't long.

I welcome comments and questions and I am thinking of opening up a Google Group on this subject so that discussion can be held there by those who want to participate.
